Twin Peaks – Malibou Lake Mountain Club

Welcome to the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, situated on Malibou Lake in Agoura Hills, California.  An absolute TON of filming was done in the area for Twin Peaks, as many other productions.  I even saw Scooby Doo filming with the time machine van one night.  Anyway, to me the grounds harken back to the golden age of the 60’s and 70’s with a classic and charming country club façade to it.  There’s just no pool.  Aside from filming, quite a few weddings are held on the grounds and for the price of a pretty penny you can get married there too.  You might recognize the front office as the Timber Falls Motel.

Across the street, the lake itself with the gazebo was used for many classic scenes like Maddy pretending to be Laura while Jacoby is attacked, as well as numerous scenes with James and Donna and even Cooper and Annie rowboating as Windom Earle looks on.  The gazebo is also where Rusty Tomaski is found dead in a large Pawn in episode 26.

Other locations at the club include Jacque’s Apartment building which still looks exactly the same but appears to be completely vacant.

The tennis court was locked.  I knocked on the wrong door.  Double whammy.

Keen eyed observers will also notice that Leland is pulled over in Episode 16 just in front of the gates to the club!

May I leave you with a few parting shots of the area…

Over the years I have heard some “visitors” haven’t been so welcome in this area.  While I’ve had a lot of good fortune and a few special opportunities to access the grounds, I suggest sound judgment and caution in the area.  I also suggest honkin’ down the Gosh darn Mulholland Highway a couple of miles and getting a steak at The Old Place and see the Bookhouse interiors after you’re done gawking.
