I recently had the chance to ask Mark Frost a few questions via twitter surrounding my favorite show of all time, Twin Peaks. Mark was the co-creator and executive producer of the show, as well as writer and director of several episodes. Let’s rock…
BD: What characters were your favorite to write?
MF: Cooper and Truman and the Horne bros, and, hell, all o them truly.
BD: Aside from rescuing cooper-what major plots would you see continuing the show?
MF: Never got that far, honestly, after ABC pulled the plug
BD: David Lynch has often said Leland was always the killer, but when/how was it decided he was ‘inhabited’?
MF: From the beginning.
BD: Did you keep any props, etc from filming?
MF: 4. No
(editor’s note-Mark later tweeted that he kept a Twin Peaks High School letter jacket)
BD: Were there any plots that you wish had been pursued that weren’t?
MF: Cooper-Audrey romance.
BD: With all the recent Twin Peaks activity (The Psych episode, cast reunions, and art exhibits) how does it feel 20 years later- Any desire at all to revisit TP?
MF: Feels like it was yesterday. I still revisit it in dreams, but that’s as close as we’ll get at this point.
BD: What was the writing process like throughout the series? Did you and David come up with most plot development, or were the writers contributing their own plots?
MF: David and I worked on plots first season, and wrote the first two scripts. I did most of the writing or final writing from there; No except for middle section of season two to some extent.
BD: What projects do you currently have on the horizon?
MF: YA trilogy for Random House, fall of 2012. Check website updates. Thanks!
