I’ve had a genuine affection and fascination for this guy since 2002 and was so glad he broughthis solo band to Nashville. and who else is ready for that new Strokes record? if you never heard Julian’s solo joint Phrazes for the Young you should check it.
Set highlights were “Hard to Explain”, Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark”, the SNL holiday favorite “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” and a stellar encore of “Tourist”. Fortunately all the songs from Phrazes were rocked to the core. Jules’ backing band was made up of an unknown group of ringers, except for JP Bowersock wailing on the guitar. PS-I hope he goes back to the Cardinals someday. (sorry Neal)
PPS-Like the groupie I am since 2002, I got to the show 3 hours early to wait in line, watched the show from front row and got fist bumped by jules during “Out of the Blue”. Success.
